What can you expect to hook from the Kenai waters? Salmon from the whole salmon rainbow: Red Salmon, Pink Salmon, King Salmon, ~ Are you hungry yet? ~ , Silver Salmon. Not bad for one afternoon.
Let's move downstream. Rainbow Trout, Lake Trout, Steelhead.
Quick! Throw your hook! Dolly Varden, Halibut and a bunch of "Look Fred! What kind of fish is that?!"
Halibut in the river? Oh yes, meant to tell you, just a hook throw away is the Cook Inlet with saltwater Halibut just waiting to meet you face to face.
Soldotna and the Kenai Peninsula have many lakes, rivers, streams that can be explored. If you run out of bait just sit and enjoy the scenery. The fish will still be there. See the Fishing Run Times here.

A quick geography lesson on the Kenai River fishing artery: She is 80 miles long from the Kenai Lake at Cooper Landing to the Cook Inlet. If you like to have nice walks, there are 'fishwalks' along the waterways. (If you see a fish walking let us know.) Handicap accessable areas are provided along the fishwalks.
Don't forget to bring your boat. Just be sure your fishing boat is big enough to hold all the fish you pull in!
